The latest addition to the Lumi stable offers the same edge-to-edge ‘frameless’ aesthetics that feature on the original Lumi window – a product that wowed the industry when it was launched back in 2015 – but with a slimmer 70mm outerframe depth and 28mm double-glazing, the Lumi2 range is designed to be more suitable for the home improvement market.
Linda Tomb, Apeer’s marketing manager, said: “The design of the original triple glazed Lumi product, which we now call Lumi3, was geared towards the new build market and has made a huge impact since its launch. However, for retrofit, we wanted to offer something at a mid-range price point that was also easier to specify and install, and this is where Lumi2 fits the bill.
“We’ve had a fantastic response so far to our Lumi2 window and lift & slide offering, but up until now there hasn’t been a rooflight that ‘suites’ with these products – so we’ve responded to the frequent requests from our customers with the Lumi2 rooflight that now completes our ‘extend and renovate’ package.
“We’re anticipating a lot of demand for the new rooflight, especially as the trend continues for homeowners to improve and expand their existing living spaces rather than deal with the stress of moving to a larger property, and even at this early stage we’ve already completed and installed a number of successful orders.”
The Lumi2 rooflight is made from a GRP frame, and as with all other Lumi products, features a screen-printed border to the inside of the outer pane. As Apeer is able to toughen and paint its glass in house, the thickness of the screen-printed border can quickly and easily be adjusted in order to exactly suit an individual customer’s requirements, a USP that Apeer says is particularly useful when it comes to matching the thickness of any roof insulation.
Offering superb ‘U’ values, the new Lumi2 rooflight from Apeer can be specified with either double or triple glazing.
