These awards recognise exceptional projects in the lightweight façade, window, and sun protection sectors, while also honouring the best undergraduate or postgraduate dissertations concerning the building envelope.

Registration is open from 6 May until 16 September.

Madrid, 22 April 2026.- VETECO, the trade fair within Semana Internacional de la Construcción that is organised by ASEFAVE (the Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Lightweight Façades and Windows), has launched the call for entries for the 2026 VETECO-ASEFAVE Awards. This sixteenthedition once again focuses on design quality, innovation, sustainability, and technical developments in architectural envelope solutions.

The awards retain their traditional categories: Best Façade, Best Window, and Best Solar Shading Project. These exist alongside the Final Year Project Award, which is designed to stimulate interest among future specifiers in glazing and building envelope solutions linked to energy efficiency, sustainability, and industrialisation.

“To mark the VETECO-Semana Internacional de la Construcción celebrations, we are hosting a new edition of the VETECO‑ASEFAVE Awards. This programme evolves alongside technological advances in the sector and an increasingly demanding regulatory environment. Today, in addition to energy efficiency, innovation, and architectural quality, product sustainability and its contribution to the overall performance of a building are of critical importance. The category aimed at architecture students is particularly important to us, as it allows the younger generation to offer a fresh perspective on the direction architecture is taking and the solutions that will shape the future of building envelopes in our country,” said Pablo Martín, director of ASEFAVE.

The application window runs from 6 May until 16 September 2026. Shortlisted candidates will be announced on 7 October, and the awards ceremony will take place on 12 November 2026 during the VETECO event.

Regarding judging criteria, the awards recognise projects noted for design excellence and alignment with principles such as sustainability, industrialisation, execution, and installation, depending on the category. For solar protection, the jury also considers the contribution to natural light usage and the thermal and visual comfort of the building's occupants.

Within this context, jury member Francisco Diéguez Lorenzo, managing director of ITeC (Institut de Tecnologia de la Construcció de Catalunya), emphasised that “I am honoured to serve on the jury for the VETECO-ASEFAVE Awards, an initiative that recognises innovation, quality, and commitment within the window, façade, and solar protection sector.

Our involvement reflects the Institute's mission to actively improve the built environment by providing independent, rigorous technical expertise that highlights solutions advancing sustainability, performance, and adaptation to contemporary challenges facing the construction sector.”

Boosting emerging talent: the value of the undergraduate and postgraduate awards

The Undergraduate and Master’s Thesis Award has established itself as one of the most inspiring categories within the VETECO-ASEFAVE Awards. This category aims to recognise academic proposals offering new perspectives on the building envelope while incorporating criteria such as energy efficiency, sustainability, material innovation, and technical feasibility.

Sponsoring the Best Final Year Project Award for aspiring architects at VETECO represents a long-standing commitment by Deceuninck to the talent shaping the future of architecture and sustainable construction. “As manufacturers of high-performance PVC and ThermoFibra® profiles for windows and doors, we know that architectural excellence stems from a balance of creative vision, technical rigour, and environmental responsibility. That is why we continue to champion this award, convinced that the future of our industry is being shaped today in classrooms and architectural practices,” said Giorgio Grillo, managing director of Deceuninck.

Similarly, Álvaro Yanes, winner of the VETECO-ASEFAVE Graduation Award at the most recent edition of the fair, expressed his gratitude, stating that, “it was a very special recognition of a project to which I devoted significant effort and passion. The award also provided a significant boost to my career, enabling me to build industry connections and participate in events such as the 2nd ASEFAVE Congress, where I exchanged ideas with leading professionals and shared my perspective as a young architect.”

This call for entries is integrated into the upcoming edition of VETECO, a central feature of Semana Internacional de la Construcción, to be held at IFEMA MADRID from 10 to 13 November 2026. The trade fair is one of the industry’s leading events for discovering the latest innovations in windows, curtain walls, hardware, machinery, home automation, and solar control and protection solutions.
