Şişecam contributed as a sponsor to the São Carlos School on Glasses and Glass-Ceramics 2026, one of the most respected academic events in the field. Held for the fourth time this year, the program brought together a wide range of participants, including international graduate students, academics, researchers, and industry professionals, becoming an important meeting point for the glass science community.
The program featured advanced technical content covering the structure of glasses and glass-ceramics, as well as dynamic processes such as diffusion, viscous flow, relaxation, liquid–liquid phase separation, and crystallization. Theoretical and practical sessions on optical, electrical, mechanical, and biochemical properties provided participants with an interdisciplinary perspective. Scientific and technological developments in advanced glass fibers and high-performance glass systems were also presented during the event.
Şişecam’s Contribution to Advanced Material Technologies
Şişecam played an active role in the event not only as a sponsor but also through its strong technical expertise and R&D capabilities. Representing Şişecam, Dr. Gülin Demirok, Glass Fiber Product Development Specialist and Project Manager of the “Efficiency Management Program”, delivered a presentation highlighting the Company’s innovative transformation journey—from its long-standing experience in the production and application of standard E-glass fiber to cutting-edge technologies including high-modulus (HM), ultra-high-modulus (UHM) and S-glass fiber.
The presentation focused on experimental glass fiber compositions and process approaches developed to achieve high mechanical performance, enhanced specific strength, and advanced engineering applications.
Şişecam’s R&D Vision for High Value-Added Materials
Guided by its vision of “meeting the advanced material needs of the future, today,” Şişecam aims to develop high-value-added materials for strategic sectors such as defense, energy, aerospace and advanced composite applications through its research in glass fiber technologies. In particular, the Company’s work on HM and S-glass fiber underscores its global competitive strength in advanced glass and fiber technologies.
