Modplan is helping its installer customers sell more and break into higher-end markets by adopting Timberweld® technology.

The leading fabricator of windows, doors and conservatories recently purchased a licence to use the welding technology as part of its ‘Modplan Mission’ to continually exceed customers’ expectations. Timberweld is a patented method of jointing PVC-U which creates perfect corners with a butt-joint on the outside and inside of a window. This enables Modplan to serve the growing flush sash market with a truly authentic timber-look window.

Justin Williams, International Sales and Marketing Director of Modplan, comments: “The market for flush sash is increasing fast: although colour is driving growth across all profiles flush is outstripping this – sales have trebled! We introduced the Timberweld welded sash to help meet this demand. We get the beauty and style of the mechanical joint with the strength of welding.”

“As Justin highlights, the flush sash market is gaining great momentum,” comments Alan Burgess, one of the innovators behind Timberweld (pictured with Justin at the recent VEKA France golf day). “If you want to serve this market at scale, you need to be able to weld a strong, authentic butt-joint quickly and cost-efficiently. With the necessary machinery, and a Timberweld licence, you can do just that and do well in this very lucrative market.”

“More and more consumers are choosing windows for aesthetics, not price. Our customers love the look and quality finish we get using Timberweld, and we’re seeing greater uptake from installers who previously who weren’t selling higher end products. One simple investment allows them to target the premium market,” adds Justin, who is pictured with Alan at the recent VEKA France golf event.

Based in Newport, Modplan has been supplying installers across the country for over 40 years. “We really do go the extra mile to exceed customers’ expectations as part of our ‘Modplan Mission,” adds Justin. “Our focus on new products and reliable service gives our customers a real edge over the competition.”
