Michael Butterick, Marketing Director at Saint-Gobain Glass has been appointed President of the Glass & Glazing Federation (GGF) for a two-year term.

With over 30 years of experience in the fenestration industry, Michael has spent the past 15 years in the flat-glass sector, where he leads the marketing function for Saint-Gobain Glass in the UK. Prior to this, he held a number of senior roles in the window systems sector, gaining a broad perspective across the supply chain.

Michael has been actively involved with the GGF for several years, including serving as a Board Director. Most recently, he has chaired the GGF’s Consultation Response Group, contributing to the industry’s engagement with Government on future regulations such as the forthcoming Future Homes Standard.

Speaking about his appointment, Michael said: “I’ve been fortunate to experience our industry from different vantage points – from working with window fabricators and installers, to supporting glass processors and glazing professionals. That breadth of understanding has underlined the importance of collaboration between all parts of the supply chain. The changes we face in our operating environment mean that this shared understanding is more important than ever.

“We are entering a pivotal moment for our industry. Regulatory pressures, climate targets and shifting expectations are challenging us to do more, and to do better. I believe the GGF has a vital role to play in helping the industry respond, adapt and lead in this new era.

“From promoting energy efficiency and product performance to advancing circularity and sustainability, the glass and glazing sector has a significant role in delivering the UK’s net zero goals. The opportunity to contribute to that through the GGF is one I take very seriously, and I look forward to supporting the Federation and its members in the years ahead.”

Michael also emphasised the importance of industry-wide compliance, investment in skills and training, and the need to raise awareness of the economic and social value the industry delivers across the UK.

Saint-Gobain Glass UK congratulates Michael on his appointment and is confident that his leadership will strengthen the Federation’s ability to represent the industry, support its members and drive forward positive change.
