Northern Ireland based McMullen Facades is launching a major recruitment drive as the company invests in a new state of the art manufacturing facility in Portadown.

Already a major employer in the local area, McMullen is recruiting across a number of disciplines to provide essential support to its thriving order book of projects across the UK.

The new facility in Portadown is three times the size of McMullen’s current premises, with additional investment in machinery, automation and handling equipment helping to increase capacity and production.

Specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of specialist unitised building facades, the company is enjoying particular success in the London high-rise residential and commercial office market as well as securing projects as part of the creation of the ‘Northern Powerhouse’ in Northern England.

The company’s current order book includes a number of high-profile London city projects with a combined value of £65m which will be manufactured in the new Portadown facility.

When the new Portadown facility is at full production there will be up to 125 staff employed bringing the company’s total staff numbers to 250.

Although it has grown to be one of the most successful specialist construction companies in the UK, having worked on an impressive portfolio of projects including the Stirling prize winner the Evelyn Grace Academy in London and The Obel Tower, the tallest building in Ireland, McMullen Facades’ roots have remained firmly planted in Northern Ireland with the company enjoying a strong regional presence since it was first established in 1971.

McMullen Facades managing director Ronnie Mills commented; “This is a really exciting time for McMullen Facades both in terms of the work that we are doing and the clients that we are working with. We pride ourselves on being at the forefront of innovation and a leader in the specialist contractors sector which has led to significant growth in recent years. So much so that we have now outgrown our current manufacturing facility and will soon be moving to a much larger, brand new purpose built factory in Portadown, bringing a number of new jobs to the community. We are delighted that our expansion has been able to bring a benefit the community and the regional manufacturing industry.

Our people represent some of the very best talent within the construction industry and we are committed to developing all of our staff through continuous training. We may be operating in the national construction market but we are very much a local company at heart and we look forward to welcoming new faces to the McMullen Facades family.”
