During the NGA Glass Conference: Ann Arbor, Sept. 29-Oct. 2, 2025, NGA presented its highest honor, the C.G. Carney Award, to longtime industry leader, John Kent, president of Administrative Management Systems Inc.

The award is named after C. Gregory Carney, who served as the Glass Association of North America’s Technical Director for more than two decades.

“The C. Gregory Carney award is the highest honor the association has to offer," said Urmilla Sowell, VP of technical services, when presenting the award. "This award is for an individual dedicated to advancing glass, promoting and advocating for our industry while demonstrating the association’s mission and values within the industry: doing what is right for the industry as a whole.

This year’s recipient is one of the most dependable people in the glass and glazing industry. He started his career much like I did, in a laboratory, and has served our industry for more than three decades. He is very good at seeking improvements for accountability within the industry. He is not afraid to shake things up to make things better, more efficient or more effective."

In accepting the award, John Kent turned the recognition back to the attendees in the room. “I’m a huge fan of trade associations and of the work that this group has been doing in the 30+ years that I’ve been coming to these events. The association world is the embodiment, the ultimate manifestation of a rising tide lifts all ships. You make the industry better. You make the built environment better. You make the building industry better by collaborating.”
