Industry meeting point for window and façade experts

The windays of the Berner Fachhochschule have once again proven their importance as the most important specialist conference for the window and façade industry in Switzerland. Over two intensive days, the event offered valuable insights into the market and promoted an exchange between theory and practice. The industry meeting point took place on April 3 and 4, 2025 at the Biel Congress Center and brought together experts from the entire industry, including our quality association.

windays 2025 took place on April 3 and 4, 2025 at the Kongresshaus Biel. Over 30 companies presented their latest products, services and solutions at the trade exhibition. In addition to this small exhibition, experts gave specialist presentations on industry-relevant topics. With around 350 specialists and managers from the window and façade industry from all over Switzerland and neighboring German- and French-speaking countries taking part, windays once again offered opportunities to network and gather information this year.

Our quality association took part in the Biel windays as a cooperation partner and also made a contribution to the program. We were therefore represented on site on both days by our quality assurance officer, Bernhard Elias.

This year's event focused on the economic development of the industry, building physics challenges in the areas of thermal insulation, ventilation, fire and noise protection, circular economy and sustainability, and the presentation of the latest products and innovations.

On Friday, April 4, Bernhard Elias gave his presentation "Investigations on the corner strength of conventional and seamless welding processes for PVC windows". This is based on test series on corner strength under short and long-term loading as well as on the findings from RAL quality monitoring and expert activities. "I think I was able to convey to the audience from Switzerland, which traditionally focuses on wooden windows, that there are interesting developments in PVC windows and that these are also backed up by test series. After the presentation, contacts were made that confirmed our commitment to the windays," says Elias.

One innovation that was well received by visitors was the "windays live" program item, where companies from the accompanying trade exhibition were able to offer the public a quarter-hour overview of their products. Mr. Elias commented: "This "speed-dating" was really exciting, because I was able to get a quick overview of the company and product portfolio and it definitely made me want to find out more in a follow-up contact. This is a good concept from the windays organizers.

We would like to thank the organizers for two exciting days and also all the visitors who showed interest in our content.
