The American Architectural Manufacturers Association is currently planning instructor training classes for a new segment of the InstallationMasters® program, which focuses primarily on new construction applications.

Those interested in becoming accredited instructors for the InstallationMasters New Construction Program are encouraged to contact the association now so as many schedules as possible may be accommodated.

“Based on industry feedback, we are launching this new facet of the InstallationMasters program,” said Kaydeen Laird, AAMA Education Supervisor. “We are confident its addition to AAMA’s education efforts will be an asset to the industry as a whole.”

Registration forms will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional classes may be scheduled based on interest. There is a 10-person participation limit for in-person instructor training classes, with a minimum of four participants required per class. Below are current tentative training dates, pending minimum class participant levels are met:

  • April 8-11
  • September 9-12

Instructor trainings are held at AAMA headquarters in Schaumburg, IL. The fee to participate is $1,250, and registration can be completed by emailing education@aamanet.org to request the registration form.

The original InstallationMasters Training and Certification Program, prompted in the 1990s by the Building Environment and Thermal Envelope Council (BETEC) through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and developed by AAMA, is a nationwide training and certification program for installers of new construction and replacement windows and exterior glass doors in residential and light commercial markets.

The InstallationMasters Replacement Program focuses specifically on replacement and retrofit applications. All programs address water management, installation materials and components, installation practices for various fenestration frame styles and shapes, job site safety, product performance and operator types and more.

Since the program’s inception, industry professionals ranging from fenestration product manufacturers and dealers to building material retailers and consultants have successfully completed the Instructor Training program. Accredited personnel are able to train their installation teams on the industry’s minimum requirements. Having an in-house trainer allows for more flexibility in scheduling installer classes and can reduce costs associated with those classes.

For a complete list of all available training classes, visit the Becoming an Instructor page of the InstallationMasters website. Contact education@aamanet.org if you are interested in attending any of these classes so all availability can be considered.
