6 weeks ago I purchased an allegedly tempered glass, 40x66x1/2" rectangular table top with rope (shell) edge. It had previously been on table in a furniture store show room and appeared to be in perfect condition there. I placed it on a 16"X48" rectangular pedestal base for the first couple of week and transferred it to its present 22.5"X44" oval, rattan base 16 days ago. The crack is in the overhang that extends 11.5 inches from the end of the base (The opposite overhang is slighly less).

I am looking for tempered glass for a one off table. Is there any place that could do this affordably ?. I am in New England.

Hi, I'm a student at Iowa State University and my classmates and I are looking for help with a problem. He need to know how to calculate the flexural strength of glass, tempered and otherwise if possible. We are trying to decide if a glass panel in a railing is adequate to meet building code, which is 200 pounds per 1 square foot.

Any help would be appreciated.

Looking for information on “stripe” and "speckle" on flat light etched glass. What causes it? How can it be measured or evaluated? What methods are available to reduce stripe or speckle?

I find that the name of a German Standard DIN 18516 is

"Back ventilated, non- loadbearing, external enclosures of buildings, made from tempered safety glass panels. Requirements and testing"

May I ask what is the meaning of "back ventilated"?

Need names of testing laboratories

Does anyone know if there is a method to test window glass that has already been installed to determine if it is tempered?

Please advise of recorded experiences of tempered glass shattering without any potential accidental source. Any recorder experience of this occurring as a result of manufacturing defect?
