Five Translucent Frit Colors and Four New Distinction Series Patterns Provide even Greater Design Flexibility OWATONNA, Minn.

June 16, 2010 – In response to customer requests, Viracon, the country’s leading single-source architectural glass fabricator, has expanded its popular Viraspan Design silk-screen product line. The new Viraspan Design Distinction Series offers four standard patterns, ideal for interior applications.

The Distinction Series will feature the four standard patterns shown above (6019, 6015, 6002 and 6017), which offer 40, 50, 60 and 70 percent coverage, respectively.

In addition to the new patterns, five new tinted translucent frits broaden the current offering that includes simulated acid-etched and sandblasted options. Translucent frit is easier to maintain and handle than actual acid-etched or sandblasted glass. The new colors Fog Gray (V1087), Sage Green (V1088), Blue Frost (V1089), Spice (V1090) and Yellow Moon (V1091) are tinted ceramic enamels that are silk-screened onto the glass and fused onto the surface during heat treatment. The result is a subtly tinted, frosted glass surface.

“Translucent frits offer a beautiful diffused light, which make them very popular with architects and interior designers,” says Alissa Schmidt, Architectural Design Associate at Viracon. “Introducing color adds even greater design flexibility.”

Viraspan Distinction Series patterns can be applied to clear or tinted glass substrates and can combined with any of Viracon’s high performance coatings. The patterns are available in any of the standard opaque or new translucent color options. In addition, the Distinction Series and translucent color options are suitable for laminated glass, monolithic and insulating configurations.
