Toronto (March 8, 2010) – Canada’s oldest and largest fire-rated and technical glass distributor, TecniGlas, announces the expansion of its state-of-the-art facility in mid-town Toronto.

The expansion adds more production capacity and accommodates a new lamination line.

“We added about 5,000 sq ft to our 27,000 sq ft building in Toronto.” said Jordan Richards, President of TecniGlas. “We’ve been in the same location on Railside Road for nearly 20 years and sales of impact-safety fire-rated glazing are at an all time high for us, so we are investing into the market.”

TecniGlas distributes and fabricates the SCHOTT PYRAN® Platinum family of premium fire-rated glazing products, ROBAX® heat-resistant glass for fireplaces and woodstoves, and X-Ray shielding glass.

“Our Railside Road location is near the intersection of Toronto’s major highways 401 and 404 so it made sense for us to expand here rather than build a new plant far away in a farmers field somewhere.” said Fred Fulton, Sales Manager for TecniGlas. “Many local customers like to pick-up their glass and appreciate the superfast turnaround we can offer them from our central location.”

TecniGlas is the leading distributor of technical glass products in Canada and carries a broad line of specialty flat glass products like SCHOTT PYRAN® Platinum fire-rated, anti-reflective, X-Ray shielding, ROBAX® for fireplace, bullet and blast resistant, and Borofloat. For more than 98 years TecniGlas has been known across Canada for expert product knowledge, friendly customer service and high quality products.
