Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kırman Steps Down as Chairman and Executive Director Effective July 1, 2024

Şişecam, a global leader in the glass and chemicals industry, announced the resignation of Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kırman from his positions as Chairman and Executive Member of the Board of Directors, effective July 1, 2024.

Reflecting on his tenure, Prof. Dr. Kırman shared: “I am ending my adventure at Şişecam, which I started in 2006. During this long and demanding period, we achieved great things together with my colleagues. Under our collective efforts, Şişecam has grown into a company that operates in 14 countries with 24,000 employees, reaching every corner of the world with its products. I owe a debt of gratitude to all my Şişecam colleagues for this remarkable journey. I experienced the unparalleled joy of being part of a team united by the same goals and shared emotions.”

Prof. Dr. Kırman also acknowledged the vital role of external stakeholders: “This adventure included many stakeholders beyond our employees. The glass industry, the financial sector, and many others provided invaluable guidance and support. You have all contributed to our successes during this period. I sincerely thank everyone, especially those with whom I had the pleasure of working closely. Your support allowed me to be recognized with numerous international awards, including the Phoenix Award.”

Under Prof. Dr. Kırman’s leadership, Şişecam has seen significant growth and expansion. Since 2006, the company’s turnover increased approximately 3.5 times in euro terms. The share of international sales in total sales rose from 50 percent to 60 percent, and the number of employees grew from 15,000 to 24,000.

Prof. Dr. Kırman concluded, “From now on, I will continue to use the knowledge and values I have accumulated to contribute to a better world.”

Şişecam extends its heartfelt appreciation to Prof. Dr. Kırman for his exemplary leadership and contributions over the years. The company looks forward to continuing its journey of growth and innovation, building on the strong foundation laid by Prof. Dr. Kırman.
