Rolf Glass Expands Their Manufacturing Capabilities

Date: 18 February 2016

We are continually investing to build up our US based crystal cutting and polishing capabilities. Searching the planet for suitable machinery, we purchased two large machines from a defunct German glass company.

Named Brida and Mary, they were originally cutting crystal at the also closed original Waterford Crystal factory in Ireland. They are joining our stable of specialty equipment, allowing us to cut designs on over 3 million pieces of stemware and barware. The new additions will double our crystal polishing capabilities to about 300.000 pieces of sparkling glassware per year. Our polishing is unique, instead of the widely used hazardous acid polishing process, our mechanical buffing delivers superior surface quality, a safer process for workers and the environment.

We thank Pittsburgh based Catalyst Connection, a regional non-for-profit consulting organization, for financing this purchase. The pictures show the loading of the container in Germany and the unloading at our factory in Mount Pleasant.
