Research Frontiers Inc. (Nasdaq: REFR) has been accepted into the award-winning Continuing Education System of the American Institute of Architects.

As an AIA/CES Registered Provider, Research Frontiers is approved to deliver courses to architects for credit.

The first course offered by Research Frontiers within the AIA/CES system is entitled "Architectural Smart Glass: Advanced Light-Control for High-Performance Buildings" and highlights the functionality, design opportunities and sustainability benefits of smart glass.

Research Frontiers has started to schedule presentations of this course. As part of this awareness-building and educational initiative, representatives of Hitachi Chemical Company, Ltd., a licensee of Research Frontiers, are joining Research Frontiers on a series of in-person presentations in major markets to architects, designers and U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professionals. In 2009, Hitachi Chemical announced expansion of its production capacity of SPD-Smart light-control film to 400,000 square meters (4.3 million square feet) per year. This gives Research Frontiers licensees the highest reported production capacity for smart glass in the world.

SPD-Smart light-control film technology transforms widely used products ?windows, skylights, curtainwalls, partitions, sunroofs and more ?into products that allow users to instantly and precisely control the light, glare and heat entering a building or vehicle. SPD-SmartGlass is instantly tunable to an infinite number of light transmission states regardless of window size, and easily adapts to individual preferences using control devices ranging from basic dimmer switches and photosensors to those that are integrated into a building's or vehicle's intelligent control system. These unequalled performance characteristics help optimize energy-savings and human comfort, and they offer many other desired benefits such as increased security, noise reduction, protection from harmful ultraviolet light and the potential for aesthetically distinctive designs.

The American Institute of Architects plays an active role in the continuing education of its members. The organization strives to provide valued opportunities for AIA members to maximize their professional skills through effective learning partnerships with firms, continuing education providers, and others.
