DURANAR coatings and STARPHIRE glass selected in survey of readers - PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) has won two Readers Choice Awards from USGlass magazine for DURANAR® coatings and STARPHIRE® ultra-clear glass.

Duranar coatings, which were one of only three award winners in the Architectural Metal Products category, are exceptionally durable fluoropolymer coatings used to protect and beautify curtain walls, storefronts, window frames, railings and other metal building components.Based on a proprietary 70-percent polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) resin formulation developed by PPG, Duranar coatings have a half-century of proven performance on countless buildings in the U.S. and around the world, including landmarks such as the Empire State Building and the Louvre.

PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) has won two Readers Choice Awards from USGlass magazine for DURANAR® coatings and STARPHIRE® ultra-clear glass. DURANAR coatings, which were used on the Discovery Center at Discovery Park America in Tennessee (pictured above; photography by Bob Delevante), and STARPHIRE ultra-clear glass, which is paired with SOLARBAN® 60 solar control, low-emissivity glass in the stairwell of the Bullitt Center in Seattle (pictured below; photography by Tom Kessler), were selected by readers based on a survey that included all of the magazine’s featured products throughout the year.

Highly resistant to chalking, fading, chipping and peeling, Duranar coatings are available in an extensive palette of warm earth-tone colors and in specialty formulations such as Duranar ULTRA-COOL® and Duranar VARI-COOL® infrared (IR)-reflective coatings for cool metal roof and wall panels.

With visible light transmittance (VLT) of 91 percent in a standard 6-millimeter lite, Starphire glass is the clearest, most transparent float glass available. Because of its true-to-life color fidelity and clarity, Starphire glass is ideal for applications requiring thick glass or multiple layers of laminated glass.

Starphire glass is available in insulating glass units (IGUs) with select SOLARBAN® low-emissivity (low-e) glasses to produce energy-efficient, ultra-clear vision glass for buildings. It also is well-suited for interior applications such as partitions, handrails, transoms, sidelites, office doors and decorative wall panels and displays.

The USGlass Annual Readers Choice Awards are selected by readers based on a survey that includes all products featured in the magazine’s Showcase section, Annual New Products Guide and advertisements throughout the year.

“USGlass magazine’s Readers Choice Awards are unique in that they are selected by our readers, recognizing their top picks for architectural glazing products,” said USGlass Editor Ellen Rogers. “PPG Industries is more than deserving of this award, and we are excited to recognize them with this achievement.”
