June 13 FGIA Webinar to Give Introduction to Canada’s Federal Plastics Registry

The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) will host a webinar detailing the reporting requirements of Canada’s new Federal Plastics Registry.

The webinar, being held on Thursday, June 13, at 10:30 a.m. Central, is available to FGIA members and will provide details on the related Section 46 Notice and the mandatory information gathering that obligates companies on the quantities and types of plastic they place in the Canadian market. Register now for “An Introduction to Canada’s Federal Plastics Registry,” led by George Kendros, Unit Head in the Plastics Regulatory Affairs Division at Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). This session will be moderated by Amy Roberts, FGIA Director of Canadian and Technical Glass Operations.

“This is an important topic that impacts FGIA members selling products in the Canadian market,” said Roberts. “Join this session to get the knowledge you need to bring back to your company about what is happening with plastics regulations in Canada and how these new reporting requirements could impact your business.”

The webinar will focus on those reporting requirements that may be relevant to FGIA and its members. Participants will gain both a deeper understanding of the Federal Plastics Registry and its objectives, as well as knowledge of the reporting requirements and timelines for reporting as they relate to the fenestration and glazing industry. Participants are invited to send specific questions in advance to Amy Roberts.

About the Speaker

George Kendros is a Unit Head in the Plastics Regulatory Affairs Division at Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). His team leads the development of the policy and the IM/IT system for the Federal Plastics Registry. He has also been involved in several other plastics initiatives at ECCC, including the development of the Single-use Plastics Prohibition Regulations. George’s first position in the federal public service at Health Canada, before joining ECCC where he first worked for the Chemicals Management Plan for three years before joining the plastics team. Kendros holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Western Ontario.
