Asahi Glass Co. Ltd. (J.AHG) said Wednesday that it has gained full control of Belgium's Glaverbel SA (B.GLA) following a squeeze-out offer.

The announcement marks the end of a bitter battle between the Japanese glassmaker and minority shareholders.

Asahi Glass has been trying to get shareholders to part with their stock since last December, when it announced its EUR145-a-share offer for the 35% of Glaverbel it didn't already control.

Asahi Glass plans to integrate Glaverbel into its global operations. Glaverbel was delisted from Euronext Brussels on Dec. 16.
