Our conclusion after four trade fair days: today nothing is left from the massive redundancies the glass industry suffered from in the last two years.

glasstec 2016 is history and we are back to everyday life. This year again futronic took chance to enter into discussions with customers, prospective clients and business partners at the fair. Especially the newly developed Upgrade Kit for the EPRO Controller was of great interest.

Our conclusion after four trade fair days and many interesting meetings and impressions: today nothing is left from the massive redundancies the glass industry suffered from in the last two years.

On the contrary: it was busier than two years ago, in the corridors and also at the stands, and of course, at the futronic stand, a shared booth with established partners it was very busy.

„High quality discussions"

Both the quantity and quality were right: "Especially executives and decision makers from the glass plants came to us and lots of them with specific investment plans," says managing director Wolfgang Lachmann, responsible for technology and development.

His colleague Michael Preuß sums up positively: „We have had lots of good discussions. Naturally it was just nice to see someone again and to exchange ideas, to maintain contacts, that is what a trade fair also is meant for" Preuß says.

„However a lot of customers and prospective clients just passed by to discuss specific themes and oncoming projects, like plans for modernization of a machine". This resulted in a lot of ideas and suggestions. Thus now after the fair the actual work starts, and during the next weeks and months he would see, Preuß mentions, how many projects futronic will fill the order books, "and what we could realize. However, I am confident."

Great interest in EPRO Upgrade-Kit

This year futronic presented an absolute new designed exhibition stand: all in white, simple and functional. In this way the large-sized graphics, which show at one glance where and in which sectors of container glass manufacturing futronic products are used, and the newly produced animations and videos remain featured in an optimal way.

Naturally futronic shows its machine control FMT24S, the related Electronic Key System EKS and other products. The focus, however, was on the newly developed Upgrade Kit for the EPRO control. More than 300 systems have been operating reliably in glass production plants since many years.

However nowadays this technology reached its limits. The ArcNet-communication structure of the EPRO is outdated, many components are already discontinued and are very hard to obtain. To get out of this dilemma we can offer an extensive retrofit.

"For this measure we developed the EPRO Ugrade-kit as a bridge technology, which can bring the control system of yesterday up to date using new communication structures and the most important functions of the FMT24S, and after all the investments are manageable," technical manager Wolfgang. Lachmann comments.

The EPRO Upgrade-Kit was of great interest for the representatives of the glass plants worldwide.

Good mood, positive spirit

Once again the glasstec fulfilled its role as the world's leading trade fair for the glass industry, the exhibition management resumes in its final report. Thus 1.235 exhibitors from 52 countries presented themselves this year in Düsseldorf, around 40.200 trade visitors from more than 100 countries came.

The exhibitors, so the exhibition management says, unanimously reported from good business transactions, promising contacts and a positive spirit for the worldwide glass industry, which leads to expect a good after fair business.

We can only agree. For the futronic team at the exhibition the travel to Düsseldorf again proved to be worthwhile. Next time surely we will not miss the fair as well.
