GQA Qualifications, the industry’s specialist awarding body, has been named as Technical Sponsor at this year’s Glazing Summit.

The company, which has been writing industry relevant qualifications for over 25 years, will be joined at the event by Building Our Skills – Making Fenestration a Career of Choice, the organisation that is campaigning to attract new entrants into the industry.

a trading company and GQA-backed initiative that is helping to attract new entrants into the industry.

Taking place on Thursday, October 12 at Edgbaston Stadium once again, the Glazing Summit is a key event in the industry calendar thanks to its mix of industry debates on leading issues and networking opportunities.

And for Mick Clayton, GQA’s CEO, it’s this reason why the event is the perfect platform – and why GQA has decided to sponsor it for the first time.

“This is an important event for the glass and glazing industry because it will highlight the unique set of challenges the sector is facing and provide the opportunity to hear what we can do about it,” explained Mick.

“As the leading awarding and qualifications-writing organisation for this marketplace we are committed to people development and the acquisition of independently assessed and certified skills in order to create a better workforce and help address the industry’s skills gap. We therefore view this summit as being very closely aligned with our aims and are delighted to be a sponsor.”

Both not-for-profit organisations will have a stand at the event, and Mark Handley, Building Our Skills’ Partnerships Manager commented:

“The summit is an excellent opportunity for us to engage with the industry and update its business leaders on the fantastic progress we are making on their behalf in trying to attract new talent. We have a variety of new initiatives to tell them about that are set to benefit them and inspire people to join the industry. Please come along to our exhibition stand and find out more.”

Last year saw a record attendance number at the Glazing Summit and Andrew Scott, founder of the Glazing Summit, commented: “Raising the standards of the industry through qualifications, compliance and assessments is vital while attracting new talent is key to its future. Both are sure to be big talking points at the Glazing Summit and I’m delighted to welcome both GQA Qualifications and Building Our Skills on board for 2023.”
