Glass manufacturer Pilkington United Kingdom Limited, part of the NSG Group, has launched a new smartphone app that provides ideas and inspiration for building designers and architects.

Pilkington Project References includes a searchable database of Pilkington glass products that users can browse to find solutions to their project requirements.

A powerful search function means users can find projects by location, type of building, benefit-led category, type of glass or any other product-specific query.

The app will then display examples of inspirational buildings from around the world, as well as detailed product data to support and enrich the design process for construction industry professionals.

Users can also search for nearby projects which they can visit to see the glass products and applications in situ.

The free app, which is available from app stores now in iOS and Android versions, even enables users to share projects with collaborators via social media.

The new app joins the company’s existing Spectrum app, which is one of the industry’s most popular glass specifying tools, enabling users to find the Pilkington products that most closely match their project requirements. Launched in 2011, Spectrum has more than 19,000 registered UK users across its online and mobile platforms.

Jolanta Lessig, European Marketing Communications manager at NSG Group, said: “The new Project References app makes it quicker and easier for users to find and select the products they need, wherever they are.

“It gives architects access to a multitude of inspirational examples, including office, residential, shopping, recreation, schools and kindergarten buildings, all incorporating the market-leading Pilkington glass product range.

“We've received great feedback for Pilkington Spectrum since its launch and, together with the new Project References app, users can now carry a powerful and versatile mobile toolkit in their pocket.

“We see the apps becoming an invaluable source of project references for designers and other construction professionals.”

The new Project Reference app for iPhones and iPads is available to download from the Apple iTunes store here.

It can also be downloaded from the Google Play Store for Android devices here.
