Glass for Europe has become a member of the European Commission’s European Housing Alliance, reinforcing the flat glass industry’s contribution to discussions on Europe’s housing challenges.

The European Housing Alliance, announced as a key priority of the new Affordable Housing Plan, is an open, multi-level platform that aims to tackle the continent’s housing affordability crisis. It brings together EU institutions, national, regional and local authorities as well as key stakeholders (tenants, property owners, young people, industry). Its role is to encourage mutual learning, knowledge-sharing and best practices.

As Europe seeks to improve the affordability, quality and sustainability of housing, greater attention should be given to the role of building materials and technologies. High-performance glazing is an integral part of the solution, contributing to the creation of more energy-efficient, comfortable and resilient homes while reducing energy needs, improving indoor living conditions and maintaining access to daylight.

Through its participation in the Housing Alliance, Glass for Europe aims to bring the flat glass industry’s expertise to the discussion and highlight how readily available, high-performance glazing solutions can contribute to better housing across Europe.

The next plenary session is expected to take place in the first half of January 2027. In the meantime, Glass for Europe will engage through the various channels offered by the Alliance.
