Emplas has become the latest big name to sign-up to Glass and Glazing Federation membership.

Founded in 1979 and still family-owned, the G25 Fabricator of the Year has played a key part in driving innovation within the window and door industry.

With a track record of investment in automation, digital ordering, real-time delivery tracking, sustainability and product innovation, it’s among the UK’s leading window and door manufacturers, working across trade, home improvement and commercial sectors.

Craig Johnson, Director, Emplas, said: “While we have always recognised that the GGF plays an important part within the industry, there was perhaps a slight misalignment, which meant that the time was never quite right for us to join.

“You only need to look online or pick up the trade press to see how much the GGF has changed - and more importantly – how much change the construction and building products sectors are going through more generally.

“Having access to the latest technical updates and Government guidance is invaluable in supporting us and our customers in navigating, some fairly turbulent regulatory waters, not to mention wider economic pressures within the market.”

Emplas operates from one of the UK’s most advance manufacturing facilities. This includes its’ Wellingborough operational hub, having added a second and dedicated door manufacturing facility in 2024.

It’s also one of only a handful of fabricators to operate its own IGU facility, connecting and bringing complete visibility to the manufacturing process.

With a sustained multi-million-pound investment programme recent innovations include its launch of a unique recycling scheme developed in partnership with Polypure.

Combined with investment in solar generation, energy reduction measures, route optimisation and waste reduction initiatives, its allowed Emplas to manufacture one of the UK’s lowest carbon windows at only 3.73kg of CO2, per frame.

Craig continued: “We have always taken the view that scale brings responsibility. We manufacture at volume, but we remain a family business, and our focus is on using that scale to deliver better products, better service and better support to customers.

“Joining the GGF is part of that commitment. It aligns with where we are as a business and where the industry is heading - higher standards, better evidence, stronger technical understanding and a more sustainable future.”

Lauren Mawford, Director, GGF, said: “Emplas is a great business to have on board because its scale adds weight to our collective voice as an industry - that benefits all of us.

“It’s great to see major players joining the GGF, but that’s one of the things that makes the organisation so valuable. There’s a place for every part of the industry. From systems and float glass manufacturers to independent installers, the GGF is here to represent and support the whole sector".

“We’re committed to supporting everyone, with dedicated support packages, for wherever you sit in the industry including everything from HR support and advice to discounted rates on insurance backed guarantees.

“We want the GGF to work for everyone.”
