XIX World Congress on Safety and Health at Work Presents Real-World Example of “The Global Collaboratory”Istanbul, Turkey (PRWEB) September 08, 2011As a premier sponsor of the XIX World Congress on Safety and Health at Work, DuPont will have a prominent presence at the gathering here Sept. 11–15.

Uniting its activities under the theme, “A Global Collaboratory on Protection,” the company will emphasize the necessity of using an inclusive, collaborative approach in responding to the world’s safety challenges.

“For all of us who value a safe and healthy work environment, the World Congress is an excellent forum for the free exchange of knowledge, best practices and new technologies,” said DuPont Executive Vice President Mark P. Vergnano. “By fostering the cooperation necessary to develop a global prevention culture and greater protection for workers and their families, it provides a real-world example of what we at DuPont call ‘inclusive innovation.’ As in past years, DuPont is proud to be a sponsor and take part in this important assembly.”

Over the course of the World Congress, DuPont will be leading or participating in the following events:

  • A Global Responsible Leadership Roundtable on Transformational Leadership. Co-sponsored by DuPont, the Campbell Institute of the U.S. National Safety Council and human resources consultant Mercer, this event takes place Sept. 11, and brings together executive decision-makers and thought leaders representing industry, academia and advocacy groups. Panel presentations will examine a leader’s role in building and sustaining a strong safety culture and how this culture can help organizations achieve operational excellence, minimize enterprise risk, encourage innovation and fuel transformation. DuPont Sustainable Solutions President James R. Weigand and DuPont Protection Technologies President Thomas G. Powell will be moderating and speaking as panelists.

  • The DuPont Safety Awards Ceremony. DuPont Sustainable Solutions will announce the five winners of the 10th Annual DuPont Safety Awards at a special ceremony Sept. 12. The awards recognize outstanding initiatives toward workplace safety enhancements and incident prevention in the Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMEA) region. Weigand; Koen van Neyghem, managing director, DuPont Sustainable Solutions – EMEA; and Ian Hudson, DuPont president – EMEA, will participate in the ceremony.

  • Technical and Symposia Sessions. DuPont safety and protection experts will be delivering presentations during the technical and symposia sessions of the Congress.

  • Exhibition Presence. DuPont will exhibit products and services at the International Health and Safety Exhibition being held concurrently with the World Congress.

In addition to its participation as a premier sponsor of the World Congress, DuPont will host "A Global Collaboratory on Protection – Protecting the World: How Safe Is Safe?" to be moderated by Gavin Esler, regular presenter on the BBC. Global Collaboratory events, focused on food, energy and protection, are being held around the world to generate and extend the conversation around these issues. At this Global Collaboratory on Protection, invited guests will hear a discussion among distinguished panelists about how business enterprises, governments, other organizations and individuals can be more proactive and collaborative in approaching global safety. A question and answer period will enable attendees to engage with panelists and one another.
