Dip-Tech, the world-leading provider of digital ceramic in-glass printing solutions, today announced that it has received ABZ-70.1-75 certification from the Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik (German Institute for Civil Engineering).

The certification confirms that glass printed with Dip-Tech Digital Ceramic Inks is approved for use with Dow Corning® 993 Structural Glazing Sealant, the leading silicone-based adhesive used in curtain wall construction of superstructure buildings. Dip-Tech digital ceramic printing technology is already well-proven in numerous successful architectural projects, including facades and superstructure building around the world. Now architects and builders have official, independent verification for these types of glass installations.

The testing was performed by IFT-Rosenheim Institute on glass samples produced by Flachglass Wernberg. The accreditation, issued in October, covers enameled ESG, ESG-H and TVG glass panels printed with Dip-Tech Inks for bonding with Dow Corning 993 Structural Glazing Sealant.

Dip-Tech inks are the only inks used in a digital printing process that have received this important industry accreditation.

Structural glazing (i.e. glass panels adhered to building frames utilizing a silicone adhesive such as Dow Corning 993  Structural Glazing Sealant) is used in the vast majority of building façade constructions worldwide. As an internationally recognized standard, the certification from Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik provides independent confirmation of the durability and functionality benefits of using Dip-Tech Digital Ceramic Printing for glass façades.

"We see this certificate as an additional and impartial approval of the flexibility that can be gained by using Dip Digital Ceramic Printing for glass in a wide range of applications," said Dr. Ariel Litwak , Executive Vice President at Dip-Tech. "This confirms to our customers that digitally printed glass produced with Dip-Tech Digital Ceramic Inks and Printers can be combined with Dow Corning 993 Structural Glazing Sealant with full confidence that the system and glass will be safely bonded."

Markus Plettau , Marketing Manager Europe for High Performance Building, at Dow Corning commented: "This industry certification for use of Dip-Tech-printed glass with Dow Corning 993 Structural Glazing Sealant broadens the opportunities for incorporating enhanced glass functionality in superstructure designs. In building construction, where quality and safety go hand-in-hand, the certification provides independent confirmation that our combined offering meets stringent requirements on both these parameters."
