Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems has been invited to present their RIBA Approved Seminar “Stand and Deliver: A Study of Curtain Walling” as part of FIT Show’s Seminar Programme.

As you know RIBA requires that architects who hold RIBA membership must undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) modules to keep their membership up to date. As Comar have taken the step of working closely with RIBA to approve the content of this seminar, Architects can claim double CPD points.

This seminar is also part of RIBA’s Core Curriculum. Every day, Comar’s Project Managers present these seminars in architectural practices throughout the country which shows our commitment to training our architectural partners and raising technical competence across the industry.

The seminar broaches the following topics and is a must see for any of our fabricator partners who are involved in the design and installation of curtain walling and aims to cover:

  • The functions and requirements of Curtain Walling and how this influences design
  • The forces acting upon curtain walling and how they are accommodated.
  • Constructing curtain walling systems
  • Building movements relative to curtain walling
  • Drainage of curtain walling
  • Procurement and lead times
  • Safety legislation, Building Regulations and British Standards

This seminar will be presented by Paul Barden who has over 35 years’ experience in the Façade industry; from Pilkington Glass, to running his own aluminium façade company manufacturing and installing curtain walling and window systems. Currently with Comar as Major Project Director, Paul is responsible for developing main contractor frameworks partnerships, major projects and is Comar’s Passivhaus Specialist.

The FIT Show Seminar programme is developed by industry experts and focuses on key issues of the day that affect window, door and conservatory businesses in the real world including CPD certified content, live product demonstrations and practical business clinics – all delivered by industry experts. The objective of every seminar is to arm delegates with knowledge and information that they can put to work the minute they leave the theatre.
