CMS Window Systems has invested circa £1m in a new 25,000 sq. ft. factory in East Kilbride for the manufacture of a range of products to serve the Scottish trade market.

Officially opened on Tuesday 30th April by Cllr Collette Stevenson, Depute Provost of South Lanarkshire Council, the new state-of-the-art factory is home to its newly formed CMS Trade division. This will serve a growing demand from SMEs and sole traders in Scotland’s building sector who seek high performance PVCu windows and doors from a trusted local supplier. New jobs have already been created, with further positions in the pipeline and a number of apprenticeships will also be provided as the business grows.

This new trade factory opening marks an important stage in CMS’s long term sustainable growth strategy, which has seen the business go from inception to a turnover of £40m and over 290 employees in just 13 years. It is the second new production facility that the company has opened in less than 12 months, complementing its composite door factory in Kirkcaldy and its main manufacturing and recycling plant at Castlecary near Cumbernauld.

The opening of a bespoke factory for CMS Trade will enable small builders and window installers to source quality products locally in a five day turnaround and even benefit from free delivery if they are based within 25 miles of East Kilbride.

Customers will also be able to reduce their landfill waste costs and improve their environmental credentials through its free recycling service. Here, CMS Trade will take old windows and doors, removed during replacement projects, which it will then separate and recycle in the same ways that it does in all its social housing and commercial contracts.

Speaking at the opening event, Cllr Collette Stevenson, Depute Provost of South Lanarkshire Council said: “I am delighted to welcome CMS to South Lanarkshire and hope this is the beginning of a successful and prosperous relationship. It is a boost for the local economy of East Kilbride, and South Lanarkshire as a whole, having CMS invest in this area and I would like to say congratulations to CMS on its impressive new factory and good luck for the future.”

David Ritchie, CEO of CMS Window Systems added: “Creating a dedicated factory and trade partner network for CMS Trade has enabled us to develop Scotland’s first product range and service geared to the specific needs of trade window and door customers. It’s a fresh new approach that we think is a win-win for trade customers – great quality products, competitively priced and delivered in short lead times, plus the opportunity to cut waste disposal costs.”
