A luxurious multi-million pound beachfront development in Cornwall, featuring eight, two and three storey beach lodges with rooftop beach gardens and hot tubs are using 316 Marine Grade hardware from blu™ to counter the threat of corrosion.

blu™ selected for multi-million pound beach front developmentLocated at the beautiful Carbis Bay Hotel and Estate just outside St Ives, the stunning lodges boast spacious open-plan lounges with multiple floor-to-ceiling Lift and Slide Doors leading to private sun decks and sea-facing balconies overlooking one of the world’s most beautiful bays.

With such an amazing location, the architects responsible for the development were well aware of the impact the corrosive atmosphere could have could on the look and performance of the lift and slide door sets.

To prevent quality issues for guests operating them, the architect sought a performance solution and turned to Exeter-based Harmony Profiles – a specialist in the manufacturing of bespoke architectural aluminium glazing products.

According to Harmony Profiles’ Contracts Coordinator Adam Tolman, when the brief for the hardware specification came through he knew there were very few hardware manufacturers capable of providing the right solution.

blu™ selected for multi-million pound beach front development“When you looked at the quality, location and style of the development we needed a solution that not only offered faultless performance for the multiple lift and slide doors featured in the lodges, but that really looked at home on such a quality development.

“But not only did it need to be aesthetically right, it had to withstand the high corrosive salt environment. There really were only one or two hardware manufacturers in the market that could meet the brief and blu™ hardware was the obvious choice,” said Adam.

“It was the combination of the quality, performance and look and feel that set blu™ apart. The Stainless Steel finish was also important and with the guaranteed anti-corrosion performance we knew we were recommending a solution that would meet their needs not just now but in the future,” added Adam.

Having taken samples of the blu™ hardware down to site to show the architect, Harmony Profiles was selected to provide the lift and slide door sets for the development, in addition to blu™ lever door handles and a range of bar handles.

“We were delighted to be able to provide the sliding door sets for such a prestigious build as the one at Carbis Bay Hotel which adds to our growing portfolio of luxury coastal properties we are supplying to. The level of detail and quality throughout the build is so impressive and our sliding door sets look fantastic, providing a great focal point for the lodges. The client is extremely happy with the finished look and performance and we know the hardware components from blu™ match the extremely high quality of our lift and slide doors,” added Adam.

Manufactured from 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel, the bluTM range of door and window hardware come with a lifetime guarantee. They are designed to withstand the elements and thrive even in the most corrosive environments.

Products from the range selected for the Carbis Bay Development included Lift & Slide Handle Set.

Loren Jenner blu™ Managing Director Loren Jenner said the Carbis Bay Hotel project was the latest in a growing number of stunning coastal developments benefitting from its hardware.

“You only have to see for yourself the quality of the Carbis Bay Development and the beach front lodges to realise there is absolutely no compromising on quality on any level on this build. We are seeing more architects, more developers and more quality manufacturers like Harmony Profiles specifying blu™ hardware, which is a testament to its quality and performance.

“Working with the team at Harmony Profiles was fantastic as they clearly share our vision for delivering quality solutions for its customers and we were really pleased the combined approach has had such a positive impact on the development,” said Loren.
