The Architectural Glass and Metal Certification Council will host its hands-on certification testing program for experienced glazing supervisors and technicians, live on the show floor at GlassBuild America 2024, Sept. 30-Oct. 2, in Dallas. The trade show, hosted by the National Glass Association (NGA), marks the first time Architectural Glass & Metal Technician (AGMT) testing will occur in a public forum, with the opportunity for the glazing community to witness the testing process.

“By showcasing AGMT certification testing at GlassBuild, glazing stakeholders will have the unique opportunity to witness firsthand the rigor and validity of the test, instilling confidence in its ability to accurately assess glazing proficiency,” says AGMT Technical Director Ben Beeler. “GlassBuild serves as a premier platform for industry professionals to gather and exchange ideas, making it the perfect venue to highlight AGMT in this way. It underscores our commitment to advancing the glazing industry and fostering excellence.”

Glaziers must have at least 7,000 hours of work experience and a minimum of OSHA 10 Certification to qualify. The performance-based test at GlassBuild will encompass a full day of hands-on testing, including curtain wall, storefront, layout, weather sealing, structural sealing and safety. Only glaziers who have pre-registered and passed the prerequisite written knowledge-based test in advance will be eligible to test during GlassBuild.

“Advancing the glass industry as a viable, thriving and exciting career path is one of NGA's core goals, and AGMT certification is an important step along that path,” says Jenni Chase, NGA vice president of workforce development. “With more than 9,000 attendees, GlassBuild America provides a great forum to raise awareness of glass and metal technician certification, and educate glaziers and installing company owners about the testing process.”
