Gold leaf on glass

I am restoring an old brass bed that has glass inserts on the head and foot boards. There is a rectangular wooden piece with gold leaf under glass on all four sides. The glass is glued to the wood with brass caps on the top and bottom. Each glass piece has 3 red diamonds stacked vertically and bordered by a thin flat gold line. The surrounding area is crinkled gold leaf. Is there a way to reproduce this effect? Would an adhesive be visible through the glass? I could paint the diamonds with nail polish but how can I outline each of them with a small line of flat gold?

Scratched glass

i have situation where a window washer has used steelwool to clean glass. they inform me that a fine steelwool is the industry standard for cleaning glass. these windows in question were being cleaned for the first time since they were installed, so they were fairly dirty and had some residue (sp)from a year long construction project. At close inspection we have found quite a few fine scratches. the window washer denies he is responsible. if the glass has to be replaced it could run a $100k. the glass washer cost $1880.00 and his insurance is worthless. SEND HELP and answers.

Tempered glass in an aquarium

I have the opportunity to buy a 75 gallon aquarium with either a tempered glass bottom or non-tempered glass. The 48" x 18" bottom pane of glass is 1/4" thick (guessing here) but the non-tempered glass is at least 3/8" and maybe even 1/2" thick. I know that tempered glass is much better for impact resistance for small objects at a high velocity. Here is my question:

Which of the two tanks would be less likely to break/crack if a rather large (40 lbs?) rock was dropped a rather short distance (18"?) onto the bottom pane of glass.
