YKK AP America releases the new YUW 750 XTH Unitized Wall System

Date: 24 June 2013

Designed to meet fast-track, high performance building envelopes requiring hurricane impact resistance     YKK AP America, Inc. (YKK AP), the leader in hurricane impact and blast mitigation products for commercial applications, announces the YUW 750 XTH unitized wall system as a new addition to its advanced ProTek® portfolio.

The YUW 750 XTH unitized wall system is the most innovative hurricane impact resistant system available in the market. It delivers the best of both worlds, achieving exceptional impact resistance, while also exceeding the most stringent energy codes in the market today. The new unitized wall system is designed for use in low-to-mid-rise commercial buildings in coastal regions.

The YUW 750 XTH offers unparalleled design flexibility and can be seamlessly configured for multi-span curtain wall applications, single-span ribbon walls, and combinations that transition between curtain wall and ribbon wall. The system can be specified for a fully captured appearance with visible exterior face covers, in four-sided structural silicone glazed (SSG) for an all glass exterior appearance, or a combination of both for complete design flexibility. It also boasts an advanced thermal barrier design to yield U-factors as low as 0.30.

“Combining superior thermal performance, hurricane impact resistance, and unitization into one fenestration unit creates a product that is truly innovative in today’s market,” said Mike Turner, vice president of marketing for YKK AP. “The system provides architects with the ultimate system to achieve design freedom and allows structures to be quickly cladded with a superior performing product in Mother Nature’s most demanding environment.”
