Today, WDMA released the following statement regarding the signing of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

“WDMA is pleased that NAFTA-participating countries were able to reach and sign a new agreement, which we believe is crucial to healthy trade between these countries,” said WDMA President and CEO Michael O’Brien.

“While there is more work to be done on finalization, we are confident that this first step will strengthen relationships and lead to continued cooperation in the region. WDMA will be working with Congress as they take up their duty to consider and vote on the agreement. We will also continue our call for the Administration to officially rescind the tariffs on steel and aluminum, especially for Canada and Mexico, which are not addressed in the agreement.”
