PCR Will Allow Development of Environmental Product Declarations - The first edition of the Window Product Category Rules (Window PCR) for use by the window and skylight industry to develop Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) has now been published.

The Window PCR covers both vertical windows and skylights. It does not cover sliding or side-hinged entry doors or tubular daylighting devices.

The Window PCR has been developed under a joint industry effort by the Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA), American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA), Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA), and the Glass Association of North America (GANA), together with the Institute for Environmental Research & Education (IERE).

The Window PCR will enable window and skylight manufacturers to develop EPDs when specified by their customers for use in the construction of green buildings. All major green building codes, standards and rating systems now encourage EPDs by giving credit for the use of them to achieve specified rating levels or comply with building material requirements.
