"vibrant research for vibrant lives"

Date: 7 November 2013

Special show fensterbau/frontale 2014 will provide Tips for success in research, funding and identifying new trends.   Innovative technology, convincing quality and successful products – this is the outcome of research, cooperation and the intelligent utilisation of funds and grants.

The special exhibition "vibrant research for vibrant lives" shows you the way. From Wednesday, 26 March until Saturday 29 March 2014, current research results, trends and effective application for funding will be presented at the leading trade fair fensterbau/frontalle in hall 1 booth 1-614.

An accompanying congress will focus on special topics. The organisers are NürnbergMesse, ift Rosenheim, the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs (BMVBS, Bundesministerium für Verkehr, Bau- und Stadtentwicklung) with the research initiative "Future building" as well as the Trade Association Glass, Windows, Facades of Baden-Wuerttemberg (Fachverband Glas Fenster Fassade, GFF, Baden-Württemberg). From Wednesday until Friday, leading R&D projects and innovative technologies will be presented in the course of short lectures.

Research is the motor of all progress and also the source of technological development and economic success. The German windows and facades industry has developed innovative products time and again and has written an international success story in this way. We must continue this tradition. As far as the main emphases for research work within the next few years is concerned, top priority will continue to be accorded to the continuing improvement of energy efficiency; however its key focus will shift increasingly from thermal insulation to the utilisation of regenerative sources of energy and an intelligent energy management with new technologies for storing energy.

A second focus of research arises from the requirements of environment-friendly and resource-conserving construction. Within the construction sector, just as with organic foodstuffs, ecological assessments are gaining in significance. A third focal point aims to make the utilisation of construction elements more comfortable and safer, and to facilitate their operation for the elderly and for disabled persons to begin with. Key terms here are freedom from barriers, low operating forces and automation. For all of this, practical problems pertaining to fabrication, mounting and suitability for use need to be resolved, such as those at present, for example the reduction in weight of isolating glass and installation solutions for heavy and large-sized construction elements in modern external walls with high levels of thermal insulation.

The special exhibition "vibrant research for vibrant lives" is a marketplace of ideas, and all inventors, DIY fans, engineers and practitioners are invited to exchange their thoughts. The presentation of current research projects of the research initiative "Future building" represent research trends and are meant to provide suggestions and stimulus for other projects. Additional to that industry partners could present new products and ideas. At the special exhibition, next to the researchers of ift Rosenheim, a number of different research bodies, the practitioners around the GFF as well as experienced staff members of the research initiative "Future building" with Hans-Dieter Hegner of the BMVBS are available. In this manner, ideas and inspirations may be discussed and project drafts can be conceived.

Projects, innovations and key research topics shall be introduced from Wednesday until Friday. For example, on Wednesday, presentations of the research initiative "Future building" for example use of fibreglass materials in the window industry. On Thursday, an international forum shall be held for the discussion of the European energy politics, eco-design policy and the energy-identification policy with practical examples. Innovative industry products will be showcased on Friday.

Companies and institutions could present there ideas and products at the special show or at he industry meet at Friday. Please find more information and contact data at our website www.ift-rosenheim.de/fensterbaufrontale.
