Liverpool-based social housing fenestration specialist Total Glass manufactured more than 40 aluminium windows as part of major refurbishment works to one of the city’s historic Grade 2 listed Georgian buildings.

Working closely with construction and property consultants Arcus Consulting, Total Glass also supplied two aluminium doors for the substantial dwellings in Shaw Street. All windows and doors were installed by main contractor JC Construction. The property, formerly on the Buildings at Risk Register and owned by the Riverside Group, has been reinstated as temporary supported accommodation.

All the Sapa Dualframe Si windows and doors were specified in a RAL 7016 dark grey powder coated finish and fitted to the renovated rear elevation. The original façade had to be preserved in keeping with the special architectural character of the area.

Total Glass and the project design team worked with Liverpool City Council’s Principal Conservation Officer to satisfy specific planning requirements. Sample windows were provided for prior approval. These featured integral back-to-back spacer bars within the sealed glazed units and powder-coated Astragal Bars to blend with the Georgian building’s character.
