Taiwan Glass To Set Up Sodium Carbonate Plant In Mainland China

Sep. 21, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Taiwan Glass Industry Co, the listed subsidiary of Taiwan Glass Group, plans to set up a sodium carbonate plant in Huaian, Jiangsu Province, to tap into the glass upstream materials business.

The new plant, with a total investment of US$485 million, is jointly funded by Taiwan Glass, venture capital firms and other shareholders.Taiwan Glass holds a 30% stake in the JV.
The investment plan, the largest made by the Taiwanese firm so far, has obtained the approval from China's National Development and Reform Commission.
