SOLARBAN 60 glass helps former Nabisco bakery earn LEED Platinum rating

Date: 27 June 2013

Pittsburgh’s Bakery Square houses local Google offices -- Historic Bakery Square, formerly home to a Nabisco bakery in Pittsburgh, earned Platinum certification under the LEED® for Core and Shell Rating System, due in part to extensive use of SOLARBAN® 60 solar control, low-emissivity (low-e) glass by PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG).     Large windows fabricated with Solarban 60 glass enable daylight to flood 84 percent of the building’s occupied space.

Originally built in 1918, Bakery Square is at the center of an extensive urban revitalization program in Pittsburgh’s East End. The structure’s largest tenant, Google, recently announced plans to occupy approximately 165,000 square feet of office space, expanding its presence by 50,000 square feet.
