Solar meets Glass conference to take break

Date: 23 August 2013

Partners Messe Düsseldorf, Solarpraxis and OTTI agree to cancel 2013 edition The “Solar meets Glass – 4th Industry Summit for Markets, Costs and Technology,” scheduled to take place at the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel Düsseldorf on 9 and 10 October, has been cancelled.

Over the course of the current year, the sector has increasingly been focusing its strengths in other areas and paying less attention to the module manufacturing segment – specifically in the German marketplace.  After successfully staging Solar meets Glass with over 130 participants in the context of glasstec last year, organising partners Messe Düsseldorf, Solarpraxis and OTTI (Ostbayerisches Technologie-Transfer-Institut e.V.) have agreed to take this step.Solar meets Glass will resume as planned in October of 2014 – again as part of glasstec, the world’s leading trade fair for the glass industry. Expectations are that international visitors from both sectors will once again be able to give their undivided attention to the issue at that time.

The unique Solar meets Glass concept brings together the solar and glass industries in order to facilitate a professional cross-sector exchange. The goal is to provide new technology impulses to the solar industry while highlighting new sales opportunities for the glass industry. The German solar industry, in particular, is currently in the midst of the worst crisis in its history, which has already forced a number of companies into bankruptcy. Given this tense situation, efficiency increases and manufacturing cost reductions are absolutely critical in this sector. In turn, the glass industry has at its disposal the know-how to generate appropriate solutions in support of these objectives.
