Date: 14 July 2015

On your marks for super-quick quotes - When it comes to keeping a client project on track, nobody understands the need for rapid turnaround of quotations more than Mark Pardoe.

Mark is Project Estimator at GLASSOLUTIONS Peterborough and his number one goal is to make sure customers receive quotes as quickly as possible – suitably informed with his broad technical and operational knowledge.Today Mark is turning around 94% of quotes on products such as the COOL-LITE SKN solar control glass range within one hour, a response virtually unheard of in the glazing sector.

Mark has been with GLASSOLUTIONS for five years, during which he has experienced a number of different roles within the business. He started in the customer service team which provided the perfect introduction to GLASSOLUTIONS given the variety of customer queries that the company deals with every day. Mark then went on to work as project coordinator before taking up his position in estimating in 2013.

Mark says: “With our focus solely on commercial glazing, we now offer 54 different products and a team in place that knows these inside out. By applying this knowledge to our thorough and continuously updated analyses of our processes we’ve been able to establish a sophisticated spreadsheet-based estimating tool which facilitates rapid turnaround of quotes for the vast majority of projects. It is only on more unusual or bespoke customer enquiries that we need a little more time to factor in additional considerations.

“We place great importance on efficiency, throughout our working and manufacturing processes, and this includes the very earliest stage – estimating – when specifying and pricing contracts.”

Customer feedback on the speed of quotations is understandably extremely positive according to Mark:

“Customers tell us that having to wait a long time for a quotation can trip them up at the first point of securing and delivering contracts, so they like the fact that they can rely on us to give them this vital information in good time. We know through our own market intelligence that there is a massive variation amongst other glazing processors so fully understand the value of a dependable estimating turnaround time.”

In addition to being able to access decades of glass processing experience within the team at GLASSOLUTIONS Peterborough, Mark is supported by the specialist GLASSOLUTIONS Façade Design and Supply (FDS) team. This part of GLASSOLUTIONS is skilled in developing glass specifications and arranging the manufacture of technically advanced or extremely large façade glass, uniquely accessing the Europe-wide glass manufacturing capability of the Saint-Gobain Group in the shortest lead times.
