PPG Industries has renamed its light industrial coatings initiative "PPG TrueFinish industrial coatings," and realigned and refocused it to better serve customers.

The initiative pulls PPG's vast coatings-related resources, expertise and sales staff to proficiently serve the nation's light industrial coatings industry, according to Greg Decamp, general manager of PPG TrueFinish industrial coatings.

The industry comprises a growing number of small original equipment manufacturers and contract paint businesses. They usually require small, custom batches of coatings within a two- or three-day turnaround -- or about twice as fast as traditional paint-manufacturing processes can provide. In general, TrueFinish customers operate outsource businesses that serve larger companies. "PPG is perfectly situated and aligned to serve these customers," DeCamp said.

"We are unleashing PPG's industrial-coatings assets to provide a competitive advantage to this important customer. We will exploit every competitive advantage and wring every possible benefit for our customers," he said.

The PPG TrueFinish product line reflects PPG's "heritage and brand as an authentic, leading global manufacturer of industrial coatings," DeCamp said. "The name TrueFinish reaches back over decades of experience, performance and leadership, and conveys our strong industry reputation."

The PPG TrueFinish line replaces PPG's former Light Industrial Coatings, One Source and Icron brands.
