PPG Names Giga Vice President, Strategic Planning And Treasurer

PPG Industries has named Aziz Giga, vice president, strategic planning, to the post of vice president, strategic planning and treasurer, and appointed Kim Edvardsson, director, global treasury, as assistant treasurer reporting to Giga.





Giga adds responsibility for global oversight of the corporate treasury department to his strategic planning leadership. He reports to William H. Hernandez, senior vice president, finance, and chief financial officer, who had been serving as PPG’s treasurer since March 2007, and he will continue to serve on the PPG Operating Committee. Giga joined PPG in 1977 as a planning analyst in the Pittsburgh chemicals group and was named director of corporate planning in 1988; assistant treasurer, global finance, in 1992; and controller/director, planning and development, chemicals, in 1995. In 1997, Giga became director, strategic planning, and he was elected vice president in 2000. A native of Kenya, Giga is a graduate of Makerere University in Uganda and holds a doctorate in chemistry from Brandeis University as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago.



Edvardsson joined PPG in 2002 as director, financial analysis, in the corporate controller function and was named director, global treasury, in the corporate treasury function in 2005. Prior to joining PPG, she was manager, corporate reporting and financial policy, for CBS (formerly Westinghouse Electric Corporation), and served in domestic and international assignments with KPMG. Edvardsson is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
