PPG Issues Warranty For DURANAR Coatings Used With Photovoltaic Systems

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 9, 2009 – PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG) has issued a standard 30-year warranty for Duranar coatings used with building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) systems on standing seam metal roofs with approved substrates.

Approved substrates include galvalume, acrylic-coated galvalume, galvanized steel and aluminum.
 
Tom McKay, product manager for PPG coil and extrusion coatings, said the warranty for Duranar coatings is equal or superior to other industry offerings and demonstrates PPG’s commitment to supporting the latest advances in sustainable roofing technologies. “PPG offers proven, tested solutions that enable architects and building owners to design durable, attractive buildings that save energy,” he said. “That includes supporting next-generation technologies such as laminated photovoltaics.”
