The general counsel of PPG Industries Inc., a maker of coatings, glass and chemical products, exercised options for 52,485 shares of common stock, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.





In two Form 4s filed with the SEC Thursday, James C. Diggs reported he exercised options for 52,485 shares on Tuesday for $66.36 to $68.78 apiece. He then sold 37,017 shares the same day for $76.06 to $76.36 apiece. He also surrendered 14,765 shares back to the company at $76.35 apiece.



Insiders can surrender shares as a way to cover either taxes or the cost of exercising options.
