Brant Technologies of Bensenville, Ill., has been appointed a distributor of Lo-Vel and Hi-Sil brand silicas by PPG Industries for the coatings markets.

Brant will distribute PPG's silicas in the upper-Midwest, including Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota and northern Indiana. Paint and sealant manufacturers use Lo-Vel and Hi-Sil precipitated silicas as flatting agents and thickeners."Brant brings 14 years of experience in the Chicago market and has the right combination of coatings market focus and technological expertise to grow PPG's participation in this key market sector," said PPG's Ray Ondeck, sales and marketing manager, silica products.

PPG is a leading global producer of precipitated silicas for tire, rubber, silicone, footwear, carrier, plastics, dental and coatings applications. The company is also a global supplier of other specialty and chlor-alkali chemicals, coatings, glass and fiber glass.
