PITTSBURGH, Sept. 13, 2010 – PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) will showcase four new products at GlassBuild America 2010: The Glass, Window & Door Expo in Las Vegas, Sept. 14-16, including: SOLARBAN(R) R100 glass, a transparent-reflective, solar control, low-emissivity glass with a proprietary hybrid coating technology, visible light transmittance (VLT) of 42 percent and a solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) of 0.23, as well as a 1.79 light-to-solar gain (LSG) ratio – as much as 29 percent greater than that of competing transparent-reflective, solar control, low-e glasses.  SUNGATE(R) 400 glass, a passive low-emissivity glass with a magnetron sputtered vacuum deposition (MSVD) “soft coat” that helps commercial buildings in heating-dominated climates retain heat from the sun and reduce winter heating costs.  CLARVISTA(TM) shower glass, an innovative glass for shower doors and bath and shower enclosures that, with regular maintenance, looks newer longer than other shower glass products.  A new insulating glass technology that helps dual-pane residential insulating glass units (IGUs) achieve R-5 insulating performance.

The dual-coat technology incorporates one pane of 3-millimeter Solarban 70XL glass on the second (#2) surface of the IGU and one 3-millimeter pane of Sungate 500 glass on the fourth (#4) surface, separated by a ½-inch of argon-filled space. The configuration generates a winter nighttime U-value of 0.20, providing insulating performance that is better than or equal to any competing dual-pane IGU on the market.
