Pilkington Hit By Asahi Glass Comments?

Pilkington (PILK.LN) could come under pressure from Asahi Glass's (5201.TO) reduction in '05 operating income for its glass division, traders say.

They point to the fact Pilkington also operates globally and note Asahi's comments on high raw material and energy costs. Analyst agrees some readacross to Pilkington is justified but feels it's only energy costs that are likely to have hit the company. Even then, a surcharge levy in Europe, where additional energy costs are passed on to customers, means the impact is minimal. Pilkington trades -0.6% at 155p.
