New machine for I.G. manufacturer: The Bystronic glass speed’sealer

Insulating glass units with high-speed sealingNeuhausen-Hamberg (Germany), December 06, 2010.

The Bystronic glass Group is pleased to present a high-speed sealing machine for insulating glass units in the form of the speed'sealer. The new machine seals windows and facade elements at a maximum flow rate, whilst at the same time, offers the highest application speed. For the first time in the industry, it is now possible, even with different production conditions, to actively and consistently mix the two sealant material components, thanks to a dynamic mixer.

The speed’sealer was presented for the very first time at a TOP SECRET area of the Bystronic glass stand at glasstec 2010 in Düsseldorf, Germany. More than 400 invited guests were amazed by the live presentation: In a small production run, the guests were able to see the sealing of double insulating glass units and triple insulating glass units with two different spacer widths, façade elements with 20 mm x 20 mm sealant joints as well as forming glass without any tool changing whatsoever. The speed, quality and flexibility of sealing that was on show are unique in the sector to date.

The speed'sealer operates both quickly and extremely precisely. The machine seals double and triple insulating glass units at high-speed with a consistently convincing quality. This is achieved regardless of the sealing material selected, variations in material quality or temperature, or even straight after production commences. The constant mixing ratio of the two adhesive components is monitored electronically. In addition, the self-cleaning dynamic mixer prevents any clogging of the mixing section eliminating the need to clean the external rinsing cabinet. The high-precision dosing technology ensures a highly accurate, volume controlled application of the sealing material together with immediate adjustments in volumes where the joint depths vary.

Innovative and flexible

This new machine combines the vast experience and expertise of Bystronic glass Technology Center Bystronic Lenhardt in respect of adhesive and sealant application. By using a dynamic mixer, the speed'sealer operates with a very low material pressure, this ensures a low wear and tear of the dosing system. The flexible sealing of triple insulating glass units that have varying gap sizes between panes, is produced in a double circulation process without having to change the nozzles or encounter machine downtime. With this, the middle pane of a triple insulating glass unit can be secured via an adjustable motor. Alternatively, the speed'sealer can be equipped with an automatic change over system, which, within two minutes, allows for an unmanned change of materials.
