The new compactsealer: Professional sealing at entry-level prices

Date: 12 October 2007

With its new compactsealer, the Bystronic Technology Center of Lenhardt has introduced a sealing robot that will create a sensation over the coming months, and not just in potential growth markets.

The machine gives insulating glass producers an opportunity to begin automatic sealing on a professional level at affordable prices. At the same time, the product complements perfectly existing areas of production. In combination with the compactsealer, Bystronic is also offering an extensive customer added value program that is unmatched in the industry.

Even the exterior of the new compactsealer from Bystronic is impressive with its meticulous design and sleek appearance. The machine functions extremely smoothly with minimum noise during production. At the same time, it is clear that Bystronic spared no expense in terms of quality, using reliable components for all the most important functions. For example, the new compactsealer uses air cushions and V-belts with a proven track record that ensures a contamination-free system for moving lites.

The new patented dosing system is another important feature. According to Project Director Volker Braun, it delivers extremely precise and reproducible dosing. “We implemented a volume-controlled dosing system for the first time with this solution. When combined with a trumpet mixer, it allows us to offer a very compactly designed product that retains excellent mixing quality.” All commonly used two-component sealing materials can be processed, for example polysulfide, polyurethane, or silicon.

The compactsealer’s sealing nozzle also shows evidence of careful planning: A quick change system provides an easy way to change nozzles if required. This could be necessary if special lites are processed during production.

First system already being used in production

Volker Braun states that the prototype was integrated into a Bystronic customer’s working production facility, to ensure the compactsealer could be adapted to provide optimum practical results. “The fastest way to reach the level of maturity required for series manufacturing is under actual production conditions. Not only were we fortunate to find a partner who has very high expectations for the functionality of their systems and the quality of their products, we were also able to connect the compactsealer to the insulating glass line of one of our competitors. Both of these factors gave us the opportunity to put the machine through its paces under optimum conditions.”

The compactsealer concept – more than just a machine

Anyone deciding to buy the compactsealer will obtain more than just a machine. The product’s motto of “simple, fast, reliable and complete” refers to a completely new customer added value program, explains Klaus Puschmann, Director of Product Management at Lenhardt: “With our added value program, we give customers the assurance of being their most competent partner from the moment a quote is provided through to the after-sales service and support. We guarantee we will deliver the system without delay, integrate it into production as quickly as possible, and reliably configure the machine for long-term operation. We also guarantee absolute price transparency, as we offer the compactsealer at one uniform fixed price worldwide.”
