Charles R. “Bob” Lawrence, a veteran glass industry executive, will retire after 45 years in the glass industry.

Bob grew up in El Paso, Texas, and began his glass career while attending the University of Texas El Paso in 1968 at El Paso Plate Glass and Materials Co.In 1974, Lawrence took an opportunity to become a territory manager in Phoenix, Arizona for ASG Industries and in 1975, Lawrence was moved to Houston to serve as area manager for East/South Texas and Louisiana.In 1978, Lawrence took a position as manager of Glass Wholesalers, Inc. of Houston and in January 1986, AFG Industries (formerly ASG) acquired these businesses as part of a major acquisition, changing the name of the group to AFGD.In September 1986, Lawrence focused on developing a new manufacturing and distribution group of companies in support of the retail glass trade and in 1991, Lawrence acquired Glass Wholesalers and developed the Craftsman Fabricated Glass brand.  Over the last 20 years, Craftsman Fabricated Glass and has become one of the leading privately held fabricators and distributors of glass products for the commercial and residential building industries.Lawrence currently serves as a board member of The 100 Club, the Houston Employees Relief Organization (HERO).  Lawrence is a past president of the Rotary Club of Houston Heights, and has served as director for the Houston Area Glass Association, Texas Glass Association, and the National Glass Association.The entire glass community benefited from Bob’s leadership and passion to the glass industry.  All of us wish Bob all the best in his retirement years.CONTACT: CRISTACURVA713-353-5800Charles R. “Bob” Lawrence, a veteran glass industry executive, will retire after 45 years in the glass industry.
