Both awards recognize SPD-SmartGlass(TM) developed by Research Frontiers.
More details about these awards are available in the Innovative Glass press release.
Innovative Glass' SPD-SmartGlass earned the Crystal Achievement Award for the "Most Innovative Interior Glass Product" from Glass Magazine, the official publication of the National Glass Association.
The Crystal Achievement Award for the "Most Innovative Glass/Glazing Component of 2010," presented by Window & Door Magazine, also was won by Innovative Glass for its eGlass® product line that includes SPD-SmartGlass.
In its press release, Steve Abadi, Chairman of Innovative Glass Corp., commented: "Winning these 2 prestigious awards is a great honor and privilege, as we were judged and recognized by our peers and a distinguished panel of industry experts. We have worked many years with several OEM's, glaziers and architects in getting our eGlass properly specified and integrated into hundreds of homes, offices, and institutions through-out the world. These 2 awards validate that the technology is viable, reliable, and here to stay."
Crystal Achievement Judge Edward Zaucha, CEO of APG International, further observed that "Dynamic glass technology is the wave of the future for our industry."
Made using patented light-control SPD film developed by Research Frontiers, SPD-SmartGlass is the world’s fastest-switching variably tintable dynamic glazing technology. It is the only dynamic glazing technology that gives users the ability to instantly and precisely control the level of shading to any point between very dark and clear. This provides exceptional control over incoming solar energy while also adding to user comfort and protecting interiors. Available in both glass and lightweight polycarbonate substrates, SPD-Smart products – windows, skylights, doors, partitions, sunroofs and more – are laminated glazings that offer a distinctive combination of sustainability and security, can be controlled manually or automatically, and are available in custom sizes and fabrications.
